- For commercial builders and architects, assisting with universal design and accessibility
Home Accessibility Services Include:
On-Site Home Evaluation: Ficocelli Design will do a thorough evaluation of the entire home to identify all of the issues of accessibility that are hindering independence. Then, with the client, we will determine what options and technology are available for resolving those issues.
A Review of Blueprints or Floor Plans: In the event that blueprints for a new home, addition, commercial residence, or modifications to an existing property already exist, we can review them to ensure that the home environment will include all of the important accessibility features necessary to meet the clients individual needs and goals. Ficocelli Design will then develop a written report and/or a set of Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) drawings outlining our recommendations.

CADD Drawings, Bid Specifications, Bid Solicitation: We will prepare the before and after CADD drawings for the modification and the bid specifications that delineate specifically: what work is to be completed; materials allowances; what adaptive equipment is required; and the specifications for that equipment. This ensures that the client, case or project manager, funding source, and all of the bidding contractors understand the scope and details of the project, and that the bids will be evenly comparable.
Identification of, research on, and assistance with, where to purchase any special assistive technology required for the project: Since we have so many years of experience with home accessibility design, we also know many of the major manufacturers and vendors of adaptive and assistive technology and can specify the equipment that will best suit the needs of our client with confidence.
Contractor and Project Consultation, Coordination, and Follow-Along: This part of the project can at times be arduous, but we can eliminate the concern by being the point-guard for the project, ensuring that the work is being completed as per the specifications, that communications are open and clear, and respect between all parties is maintained. If there are any unforeseen issues that arise during the completion of the project, we can objectively assess the liability in the situation, so the confidence between contractor and home-owner is maintained.
Follow-Up Inspections: This could be one of the most important parts of the project. In doing a follow-up inspection of the work – prior to final payment of the contractor – all parties are ensured that the outcome is as it was designed and anticipated.
